Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt received her wings on December 12, 2018 at the age of 82 years old. She was born June 22, 1936 to the late Dave Grays and Corrine Grays in Yazoo, Mississippi.
Maggie Lee Grays moved to Saginaw, Michigan after graduating from high school in 1954 and later married James Erwin, Sr. on November 15, 1968. Mrs. Maggie became a member of New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the Nurses Guild for over 50 years. She was devoted to family and community, volunteering in the Saginaw Public School District and working at the Saginaw Neighborhood House. Maggie enjoyed shopping and being fashionably stunning. She had a passion for baking and spending time with her family. To know Mrs. Maggie was to love her. She often said, “meek and humble is the way”, while raising her children to value education and to reverence God at all times.
