Malcolm Samuel Roberson

July 6, 1972 — August 16, 2021

Mr. Malcolm Samuel Roberson transitioned home to be with God at the age of 49 years on August 16, 2021. He was the beloved son of Houston Lee Roberson and Geneva Elizabeth (Coleman) Roberson. He was born on July 6, 1972, in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

Malcolm, better known as Mike, worked many jobs in his lifetime. To name a couple: Vlasic Pickle Factory, the Sugar Beet Company. He moved to Grand Rapids for a year where he worked at McDonald’s and Taco Bell. He also did lawn care. Mike enjoyed riding on the lawn mower with his son, DeMichael, aka Pooh-Bear.” He also loved working on cars in his spare time and watching cooking shows. His specialties were BBQ, seafood, and much more. Mike thought he was a chef.

Mike loved people, especially his son, Pooh-Bear, and his other children. His friends came to see him almost every day. Mike would often babysit his nieces and nephews. People were drawn to Mike as he was soft-spoken, kind and always smiling. He enjoyed playing basketball, pool, and cards with his family and friends. He also enjoyed going fishing, playing video games and listening to music with his son. Mike liked shopping at resale shops for his blue Trans AM which he had been working on for years, trying to restore. Mike loved that car!

Mike leaves to cherish loving memories two daughters, Keaira Hardge, Michaela Gayton; one son, DeMichael Hogg; mother, Geneva Elizabeth Coleman Roberson; five brothers, Raymond Roberson, Bay City, Houston Lee Roberson, Jr., Corwin Roberson, Gevon Roberson (Sofellia), all of Saginaw, Michigan, and Daryl Roberson, Grand Rapids, Michigan; special sister, Tatorious Roberson, Saginaw, Michigan; two uncles, Lumar Coleman, Shreveport, Louisiana, Charles Schwann Coleman, Fayette Mississippi; three aunts, Curley Coleman, Dorothy Ward, Saginaw, Michigan, Beatrice (Charles) Woods, Bloomington, Illinois; best friend, Lloyd Hughes; special friend, Lisa Hogg; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Houston Lee Roberson, Sr.; grandparents, Lee Myer Roberson, Ora Lee Mitchell Roberson, Lumar (Mae Atrice) Coleman, Stella, Jeneal, Leroy and Mannie Lee Roberson; uncle, David Coleman; aunts, Gladys Gray and Mary Buie.
