Malik Yazid passed away April 26, 2023, at the age of 26. He was born July 11, 1996, in Lansing, Michigan.
Malik grew up in St. Johns, Michigan for the entirety of his life and attended St. Johns Public Schools. He had many friends who he loved to be around and make laugh. Besides spending time with his family and friends, Malik loved being outside in nature, listening to music, and participating in the Special Olympics basketball team.
He is survived by his father, Maraka Yazid of South Bend, Indiana; brother, Cody Smith of Lansing, Michigan; sister, Phranquie Smith of Dewitt, Michigan; grandma, JoEllen Cockrum of Lansing, Michigan; grandpa, Lewis (Diane) Smith of Sacramento, California; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Beth Smith.
There will be an all-day Celebration of Life on July 9, 2023, at Sharp Park in Lansing, Michigan. Food will be served from 3:00pm – 8:00pm. Feel free to bring a dish to pass if you would like.
