Malvin Sr. (Lansing) Young

Malvin James Young, Sr., age 66 passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016. He was born March 21, 1950 in Bradley, Arkansas to Joe Bass and Sarah Harris.
Malvin graduated from Bradley Arkansas High School in 1967. Soon after graduating he relocated with Mama Pearl, his sister, Lessie B. and brother Pete to Lake Los Angeles, California. There he met and married Nora Diann Culver. To this union five children were born; Lora, Nolonda, Malvin Jr., Mallynda and Marquita. While in Lake Los Angeles he attended Lake Baptist Church, completed a training program for heavy equipment operation, and graduated as a journeyman. Malvin worked as a heavy equipment operator for Local 12 from1970 to 1978. Malvin was proud that he was able to teach his son, Malvin James, Jr. the trade of operating heavy equipment.
Malvin relocated to Lansing, Michigan in 2002 and met his life-partner and best friend, Chris Morgan, who Malvin described as the nicest woman who he knew always had his back. They were together until Malvin crossed over to his resting place.
Malvin enjoyed the great outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and taking care of his garden. He was a great encourager, and always found the positive in a negative situation. He always kept a smile and loved spending quality time with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory; children, Lora (Freddy) Batt, Nolonda Alexander, Malvin Young, Jr., Mallynda Fernando, and Marquita (Clay) Bryant; life-partner, Chris Morgan; grandchildren, Alex, Janay, Taniesha, Lil Malvin, Denzel, Malachi, Ezekiel, Akina, Lil Mallynda, LaShanna, Kahulaya, Terrell, Lil Freddy, Keith; great-grandchildren, Taleeah, Jaidyn, Paris, London, Shayana, Alaya, Kayden, Lil Malvin, IV, Ariyan, Aniah, Ava, Ayanna, Darius, and many other relatives and friends.
Malvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Burrell, grandmother, MaMa Pearl, brother, Walter Jackson, and sister, Lessie B. Givens,

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
