October 18, 1944 — September 23, 2015

On Wednesday, September 23, 2015 Mr. Mansel Reed Sr. Bubbie peacefully transitioned into eternal rest. Age 70 years. He was born October 18, 1944 in Saginaw, Michigan to Louise and Willie Reed Sr.
Mansel was a graduate of Saginaw High School and NRI Automotive. He was employed with Grey Iron Foundry and was a member of UAW Local 668. Mansel retired in 1988 after 25 years of service. He loved working on cars and painting them. Mansel would tinker around in the garage for hours listening to music. He was musically inclined having played the cello and classical music since high school. He loved to draw. Mansel would create beautiful drawings from memory. In the 1980s, he won the TV Guide drawing contest. He really loved drawing Indian characters which were part of his heritage. Mansel was also a great cook who enjoyed cooking for his family. He would often call his children and tell them to bring a bowl over to enjoy his famous chili. Mansel loved telling stories to his children and grandchildren about his past and childhood. He was the family protector. A lot of his family members and neighborhood kids looked up to him as a father figure. Mansel also loved boxing, fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved caring for his beloved Neicy and kids. Mansel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We needed him here but God needed him most. Mansel will always be with us because he told us to never count him out.
