Marcia Garner Shaw was born on April 25, 1959, to the late Catherine Garner and the late James Banks Jr. in Beulah, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by one sister Jacqueline Johnson, one brother Anthony Ray Garner and one daughter Selena Martin.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Mr. Moriah Baptist Church in Beulah, MS under the leadership of Rev. W. B. Brown. Ruth moved to Inkster, Michigan in 1981 where she was mom to everyone she came in contact with. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Inkster, MI until she moved to Saginaw with her husband. Ruth played a huge in the community and was a huge advocate of ensure everyone knew God and his goodness until her untimely death.
God saw that his garden had a special seat available. He looked for a special angel to fill this seat and realized that Ruth would be perfect. On June 6, 2021, Ruth departed this earthly home to go and be with her Father in Heaven.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 24 years – Willie Shaw Jr. of Saginaw, MI; Five (5) daughters – Geshia Garner (Elvis) of Memphis, TN, Jakara (Marco) Robinson, Diamond (Alvin) Martin, Arlee Martin and Toni (Oredo) Thomas all of Saginaw, MI, and Synthia (Willie) Nelson of Cleveland, MS. Four (4) sons – Kiwanis (Tamika)Garner of Westland, MI, Anthony Garner and Robert (Wendy) Garner both of Inkster, MI and Brian Shaw of Nashville, TN. Special Grandchildren – Azuhnique Hicks, Da-Von Garner, Kiwanis Garner, Jr., Kyla Colston, Kawai Garner, and Raine “Marcia” Garner. Fourteen (14) Sisters – Christine Lewis, Doris (Willie) Franklin, Sandra Adams, and Diane Jones all of Rosedale, MS, Lillie Foust of Jackson, MS, Cassandra (Alcartha) Jones of Canton, MS, Synthia (Willie) Nelson of Cleveland, MS, Diane, Demeria, Doretha, Bernice, Hattie, and Rosie Lee all of Chicago, ILL, and Darlene (Oscar)of Arlington Heights, ILL. Thirteen (13) brothers – James Tressimee) Garner of Shelby, MS, Landra (Crystal) Johnson, Jr. of Flint, MI, Timmy (Angea) Garner of Ronaire, GA, Tracy Garner and Kelvin Garner of Rosedale, MS, Gregory, Brian, and Michael Jones of Beulah, MS, Richard of Toledo, OH, James III (Essie) of Columbus, OH, Jeff and Tyrone of Chicago, ILL, and Johnny of Oshkosh, WI. Three (3) Aunts – Mrs. Velma Jackson of Greenville, MS, Mildred Lucas and Alberta Price of Cleveland, MS. One (1) Honorary son – Burt (Leslie) Ford of Inkster, MI and Two (2) Honorary Daughters – Kiana Webb of Inkster, MI and Angela Dixon of Memphis, TN. Two (2) close cousins: Milton Hampton of Fort Worth, TX and Jessie Jackson, Jr. of Memphis, TN Two (2) Best-friends Eugene Taylor, Jr. and Barbara Miller of Inkster, MI; Thirty-five (35) Grandchildren and Two (2) great grands and A host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
