Mr. Marcus LeRoy West left this life to enter his eternal walk with Jesus on Saturday, July 30, 2022, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 58 years. He was born on May 22, 1964, in Lansing, Michigan. Marcus was the middle child of Sarah Y. Mask-West and David LeRoy West.
Marcus attended J.W. Sexton High School in Lansing. He continued his education studying Culinary Arts at Albion College in Albion, Michigan. Marcus was an entrepreneur and businessman. He was self-employed at his own trucking company that he built from the ground up, West Trucking Company, until the time of his death.
From a young age, Marcus was a sharp dresser. He liked to have money in his pockets, and he liked sporty cars and modern technology. His 1st job was as a newspaper boy at age 11, when he opened a bank account and saved his money. He also bought his own dirt bike and car. He was very neat and meticulous and liked nice things.
Marcus was known for his big, flashy smile and huge dimples. His hearty laugh was heartwarming and his genuine nature made him easy to love. He was kind, giving, and always had encouraging words, going out of his way to help those that needed it. He was a people person and a good and loyal friend. He also loved sports, especially NFL football, watching his favorite team the Detroit Lions, and NBA basketball, where his team was the Los Angeles Lakers.
Marcus was blessed with four children, DeNisha, Karmin, Marcus II, and Natalia. He has four grandchildren, DeAsia, Larrion, Ziyon and Zaire. He adored his children and grandchildren, and made frequent trips to Texas, to visit with his children there. Marcus loved his family without a doubt. He came from a large extended family and made it a point to stay connected with most everyone.
Marcus had a passion for motorcycles. He was an avid rider for many years, and he loved his motorcycle club family as well. He was always fond of music, including gospel music - especially Kirk Franklin.
He leaves to forever cherish his memory daughters, DeNisha C. (Theo) Hall-Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas, Karmin L. West of Beaumont, Texas, and Natalia Johnson of Lansing, Michigan, and son, Marcus L. West II of Beaumont, Texas; four grandchildren, DeAsia, Larrion, Ziyon and Zaire; siblings, Darylles Y. (Brian) Walter, Shanna D. Borney, and Darryl L. West, all of Lansing, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Y. Mask-West and David LeRoy West, and infant brother, Devon Watkins West.
We can take comfort in knowing that Marcus knew God and is in the presence of the Lord and his parents.
