Margaret Ann McKinney (Warren, MI & Lansing)

Ms. Margaret Ann McKinney passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at her residence in Warren, Michigan. Age 72 years. She was born on Wednesday, April 9, 1952, in Burdette, Arkansas, the daughter of Sam L. McKinney and Minnie Zell Orr.

 Margaret spent her early life in Burdette, Arkansas, where she attended Burdette Elementary School. Her family moved to Gary, Indiana in 1966. In Gary she attended Beckman Junior High School and Roosevelt High School. Margaret moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1971 and raised her family. Health reasons caused her to move to live with her son, Johnny, in 2021. Margaret enjoyed cooking, crocheting, playing cards, watching television shows including Steve Harvey, (boyfriend number 1), Judge Greg Mathis (boyfriend number 2), As the World Turns, when it was on television, and finally, In the Heat of the Night. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memories her children, daughter, Michelle Perteet; son, Johnny McKinney; grandchildren, Montel Windham, Jr., Marquan Windham, Malik Windham, all of Lansing, Michigan, Joneé and Jamari McKinney of Atlanta, Georgia, Aubree Cobb of Detroit, Michigan, and DeVaunté Darvell McKinney of Livonia, Michigan; great grandchild, Kingston L. Washington of Lansing, Michigan; 5 sisters, Benoit McKinney Payne, Rosetta Sanders, Ernestine McKinney, Minnie McKinney-Merriweather, and Clara Alexander; 5 brothers, Tommie McKinney, Taylor (Debbie) Sanders, Jr. James E. Sanders, Isaiah Robinson, and Jackie C. McKinney; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends including her special friends, Annette Lewis and Jackie Veal.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alicia Nicole McKinney; grandson, Stefen Dré McKinney; parents, Sam L. McKinney and Minnie Zell Orr; sister, Kathrin Wilhite; and brother, William McKinney.
