Margie Ann 'Margaret' Henderson

August 22, 1943 — August 4, 2016

Margie came to Saginaw at a young age to live with relatives and attend Saginaw Public Schools. She soon accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized as a member of Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Reverend Roosevelt Austin. As a faithful member for over 50+ years, Margie loved singing in the choir. She married the late Ruben Henderson, Sr. and became the proud mother of six children and a loving granddaughter whom she raised as her own. Margie loved bowling, going to the casino, and cooking, baking her specialty Italian and German chocolate cake, sweet potato pies, and collard greens. During the holidays, she would bake each child their own favorite cake. What a loving wife and mother she modeled. Nanny and Teddy Bear were the names loved ones affectionately called her. She truly loved her family and friends. Sharing laughter, her favorite TV shows (All My Children and The Steve Harvey Show) really made her day as evidenced by her favorite quote, No matter what, we are family. You can never change that Margaret will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Paulette (Robert) Abrams, Wendy Fite, Arnetha Henderson, Christina (Jermaine) McDaniel; two sons, Dexter Fite, Ecka (Ann Marie) Henderson; two stepchildren, Pauline Hatter, Ruben Henderson, Jr.; twenty grandchildren including one special and oldest granddaughter, Denise M. Coleman; twenty three great-grandchildren, including special great-grandson whom she named, raised, and loved dearly, her baby, Cornell Thomas Henderson; two sisters, Anna Williams, Elizabeth Goldwire; one brother, Sonny (Freddie) Hodges, many nieces, nephews and cousins; other relatives and friends including special friends, Paulette Walker, Mae Love Joyce, Claudine Cooper, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Brummell, Mr. & Mrs. George Granberry, Anita and Ossie Jackson, Cynthia Polk, Mrs. Jackie Inman; god-daughters, Shatisha and Sierra Wilson, and her significant-other for many years, James Earl Butler.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Henderson, Sr.; parents, Rosie Vickers and Walker Hodges; one daughter, Beverly D. Hodges; one sister, Inez Lynn; three brothers, Thomas Miller, Willie Lynn, Bobby Miller; three brothers-in-law, Willie Goldwire, George Williams, Mal Mathis; one sister-in-law, Lillie Miller; two sons-in-law, Brian E. Trader Sr., Prince Collins; and grandparents, Ellick and Anna Vickers.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Covenant Healthcare-Cooper, HealthSource Saginaw, and everyone that took time to visit Mrs. Henderson and pray for her.
