Absent from us but present with the Lord, our beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
Maria Teresa Williams was born March 6, 1970 in Macon County, Alabama to Mattie Louise “Sutton” Williams. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Union Springs, Alabama. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandkids. When you saw her, you saw at least one of her grandchildren with her. Maria was funny, outgoing, outspoken and a joy to be around. Whether she was playing cards, listening to music or just riding around, she made the best of every moment she lived. Well-liked and well respected, her presence will be forever missed and never forgotten.
Maria was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie L. Williams; son, LaDale T. Williams; her Big Momma, Melvina Allen; grandparents, Clara Sutton and Professor Pritchett; sisters, Olivia and Matrisha Williams; grandson, DeMarco Baskin, Jr.
She leaves to celebrate her life six sons, Michael E. Young, Jr., DeMarco Baskin, Shaquille Baskin, Thomas C. Baskin, Jr., Detrick Pruitt, Darrion Williams; two sisters, Arneater Williams and Delphine; an adopted niece raised as her daughter, Mattie Williams; five grandchildren, Jamiya Marie Young, Inez White, Tamiya C. Baskin, Demari’a Baskin, Liberty Baskin; one niece, TaNeka L. Gomez; four nephews, Clarence Young, Jr., Eric Griffin, Jr., Charles Wilson, Jr. and special nephew, Kenneth Terrell Williams, Sr.; four great-nieces, MyKael Williams, MyLeana Gomez, MyNevaeh Gomez, Michelle Jackson; two great-nephews, Kenneth Williams, Jr., Michael Walker; one special aunt, Betty “Gholston” Harrell; brother-in-law, Charles E. Wilson; godsister, Darlene Barnes; many cousins, other relatives and friends, including special cousins, Debrah Trice, Samantha Calvert, Ethel Sutton, Terrence and Richard Sutton, Jaushea Jones, Richard Johnson, Don Cope, David Riley and her children's fathers.
