Marie Weathers

Our devoted and loving mother, grandmother and sister, Marie Weathers went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 25, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family. Age 88 years. She was born August 24, 1924 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Julia Fountain.
Marie was a faithful member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul E. Broaddus. She enjoyed watching baseball on TV, especially the Detroit Tigers. Marie was also a big fan of daytime soap operas. She loved going to church, cooking for her family and spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Catherine (Columbus) Clayton, Rutha (Bruce) McGlory; four sons, Ira Weathers Jr., Isaac (Sherry) Weathers, Isaiah (Colette) Weathers, Jerome (Dawn) Weathers; thirty-four grandchildren; sixty great-grandchildren; forty-six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosa Mae Kirkwood, Chicago, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Elnora and Shirley Weathers, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Susie Weathers, of Detroit, Michigan; one god-daughter, Marge McClain; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Weathers Sr., two daughters, Barbara Jean Epperson and Francis Canty.
The family would like to express special thanks to Debbie Henry for being a dedicated care giver, her hospice nurse Diane and Larry Frierson who was like a son to her and was always there whenever she needed him.
