Mark Lovell Robinson, Sr.

November 7, 1964 — June 27, 2024

Jacksonville

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Mr. Mark Lovell Robinson, Sr. heard the clearest and most beautiful melody that he ever knew as God softly whispered in his ear that his spot in Heaven's Eternal Band was ready.

Born to Martha and Johnny Robinson on November 7, 1964, in Saginaw, Michigan, Mark was a product of Saginaw Public Schools and a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1982. He furthered his education as a Music Studies major at Delta College, University Center, Michigan.

Having been baptized at an early age, Mark always remembered his roots having served as a keyboard and bass player at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church of Saginaw, Michigan, and later as Minister of Music at Greater New Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, until his health failed.

Mark's Musical career expanded through the years as a musician in Thee Band, Friction, Wings of Faith. Fast Forward, Two the Hard Way, to Slyice, with every transition starting with him on bass and his best friend, Bruce Brown, on drums until Mark switched to keys and took their sound from being a basement band to the stages of the world by bringing the technology of sequenced music into their sound. Mark continued in music from there with the assistance of Thomas Brown Jr. and from there, he hit the road under the guidance of Michi Robinson, and with the help of the Doss family, Cynthia Olson-Dunlap and M&M management he went on to join stages with recording artists Ipso Facto, Mint Condition, and Christopher Williams. Mark also backed performing artist Usher Raymond in showcases in Atlanta, Georgia, in the earlier stages of his career, and so much more.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, DeQuarius Jackson Sr., Fayetteville North Carolina, Mark Robinson Jr. and Lourise Ramsey, Saginaw Michigan, and Ashley Orr, McDonough, Georgia. Scottie Robinson, Saginaw Michigan, Brieanna (Ben) Crockford, Mason City, Iowa, Gabrielle Bradley, Madison, Wisconson, Nina Robinson, Buford, Georgia, Isaiah Walker, Jacksonville Floorida, and Zane Robinson, Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, DeQuarius Jackson Jr., Christopher Jackson, Makari Robinson, Eva Vanhook, Teagan Smith, Jaylen Walters, and Krue Crockford; he also leave his brother, Darrick Robinson, Tulsa Oklahoma; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Bruce (Yvonne) Brown, Cynthia Olson-Dunlap, Chandra (Frank) LaGree, YaLisa (Charles) Jordan, Samantha Gibbs, Angelina Bond, Linda Reed, Minisha Walker, Donda Gardner, Penny Wallen, and Kenny Finnel.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Martha Robinson; brother, Brian Robinson; grandparents, Willie and Emma Cowan and Grandson, Jeremiah Orr.

The Robinson, Wiley, Lawrence, and Sawyer families would like to thank the Greater New Mt. Canaan Baptist Church Family and Pastor Lonnie C. Jones, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, and Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff at Paradise Funeral Chapel; and everyone for your continued prayers and calls of support.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Georgia.
