Marsha Ann Jones (Lansing)

Ms. Marsha Ann Jones passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, at her residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 74 years. She was born the daughter of Coy P. Rhodes and Bessie I. (Hurd) Rhodes on March 18, 1948, in Lewisburg, Tennessee.

Marsha and her family moved to Lansing, Michigan when she was a child. She was educated in the Lansing School District. She graduated from J. W. Sexton High School. Marsha worked for several employers in Lansing, Motor Wheel Corporation, General Motors’s Fisher Body Division, and finally, Dean Transportation where she worked until her illness forced her to stop. She was an active member at Mt. Zion All Nations Bible Church in DeWitt, Michigan. Marsha was a member of the choir, she loved singing. She served in the Greater Lansing Nurses Outreach which was organized in 1972. Marsha was the only secretary for the Greater Lansing Nurses Outreach, serving in that capacity for 40 years. The Greater Lansing Nurses Outreach was an important ministry in the Great Lansing Community, when there was a need to help the homeless, injured, bereaved, whatever the need, Marsha was there as a leader. She also loved bingo. Marsha’s greatest love was her boys, grandchildren, siblings, extended family and friends. She was a true friend to all.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her 3 sons, Maurice D. Rhodes, Elvis Jones, and Eric Jones; grandchildren, Arian, Amya, and Eric Jones, Jr., Maurice II, Lanea and Aaron Mayes, and Alisha Stewart; sisters, Samaria J. Rhodes and Bettye J. Robertson; nieces, Sameria Sherman of Alexandria, Virginia and Tonya L. Ferguson of California; 3 nephews, Merritt Robertson, II of New York, Anthony Rhodes and Jordan James both of Atlanta, Georgia; many other relatives and friends including best friend, Jane Priestley and 3 daughters in Christ, Sheila Walker, Janet Rogers, and Phyllis Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her parent, Coy and Bessie Rhodes; sister, Jane P. Rhodes; brother, Terry A. Rhodes; aunt, Elizabeth Sawell and 3 uncles, Thom Hurd, William Hurd, II and Grant Hurd.
