October 31, 2004 — June 14, 2021

Marshawn Malcolm Martin Beard moved from his earthly home to his Heavenly Home on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Sparrow Healthcare System in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 16 years old. He was born to his loving and supportive parents, Shree Deshawn Ross and Marlon Wardell Beard on October 31, 2004, in Lansing, Michigan.

Marshawn lived in Lansing his entire life with his large and loving family. What would we want the world to know about Marshawn Beard, as his family? He is the baby boy of our bunch, and he is our pride and joy. He is fondly called “Man-Man” by those who know him best, as he’s always been a little man and mature beyond his years. Marshawn is a treasure, as our grandmother often says. As a young child he had a kind spirit and quiet demeanor, yet he spoke with 100% confidence when it was his turn. Marshawn was GOOD. Good to his core. He had a kind, handsome face, and a bright, beautiful smile that would light up any room. Marshawn was active, a giant ball of energy. As a young child, he loved to run and play outside. Marshawn demonstrated a natural-born athleticism that was cultivated at an early age, and that developed into an impressive football career at the high school level. He was a member of the Everett Vikings football team and showed tremendous talent and promise. That promise extended into the classroom. He was an avid reader. Coaches, teachers, and Everett High School staff share that Marshawn was a complete gentleman, had ambition and an infectious sense of humor and personality. Marshawn was well raised and represented his family well. He was raised to be a young man of faith, accepted Christ, and was baptized at an early age. Marshawn was a young man with good moral character. He developed a personal relationship with Jesus as his Lord and Savior. His parents would tell you that Marshawn was well mannered, very well behaved, and extremely humble. Marshawn gave the utmost respect to his parents, grandparents, and all adults. Marshawn didn’t give his parents any grief nor trouble. He was a good boy. Marshawn loved and demonstrated a strong commitment to his family. His big brothers and sisters would tell you that he was a loving, involved, and doting uncle to his 6 nieces and a great babysitter. He shared an unbreakable bond with all his siblings. Marshawn loved spending quality time with his grandparents and set time aside to check on them often. He gave them so much joy and pride.

Marshawn’s closest friends would tell you that he was loyal and dependable. He loved the color red, and his favorite college football was the Alabama Crimson Tide. Marshawn had a great work ethic, and his hobbies included writing music and hanging out with friends. Marshawn was looking forward to learning to drive and obtaining his driver’s license. Marshawn was full to bursting of promises, possibilities, goals, hopes, and dreams. Most of all, Marshawn was full of love, and he gave it freely. He is an important piece of the fabric that makes up the tapestry of our family, and he will be missed tremendously. Marshawn’s life is full of meaning. Marshawn’s life and legacy matters.
