Martha Deshawn Williams

Ms. Martha DeShawn Williams passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Tri-Star Skyline Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Age 43 years. She was born on March 17, 1974 in Saginaw, Michigan to Olivia and Sylvester Jones.

Martha was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan and she was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. She later moved to Gallatin, Tennessee where she was employed at Unipres. Martha later moved over to General Motors. She loved shopping and spending time with her family. Martha was a jack of all trades. She could do many things, was very creative, and crafty. Martha could tell you all about what’s wrong with your car, but she’s not fixing it. She was a special kind of person, truly one of a kind, a very unusual woman, but that’s what we loved. Martha cared very much for her family and friends. She had a great heart with a caring and understanding spirit. Martha was a very funny person even when she wasn’t trying to be. But she didn’t hold her tongue for anyone, because that’s how you knew she loved and respected you and for that, her realness, she will be missed. Martha will also be missed for being the life of the party with her always “turned up” attitude and down to having a good time by herself if she had to. She was just full of life. Martha was also a teacher. You can’t spend time with her and not learn something, even if you didn’t ask. Let’s not forget her annoyance at times. Oh yes, Martha was that also, but that’s the person we loved and enjoyed being around. We will miss some of this if not all of it. Martha touched a lot of lives, laughed and cried with us, sharing life’s most intimate moments. These memories we’ll have forever and we can also be just like her, “In My Happy!”

She leaves to cherish loving memories one daughter, Enchantress Williams; three sons, Tyrus Williams, LaRon William and Amarion Williams; one granddaughter, T’Laiya Serenity Williams; mother, Olivia Jones; one sister, Nekeba (Artavius) Carter; one brother, Isaac Barnes; four nieces, Tacara Goodwine, Shacarra Goodwine, Jurnee Carter and Nekailah Carter; one nephew, Artavius Carter, Jr.; one great-nephew, Cai’Den Dwayne Bibbs; one sister-in-law, Yolanda Singleton; two brothers-in-law, Chris Love and Luke Harris; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends..

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Tyrus Williams; father, Sylvester Jones; mother-in-law, Janette Harris; father-in-law, L.C. Williams; brothers-in-law, Dewayne Lee, John Henry and Claudy Green.
