Martin Chandler (Lansing)

Martin Joseph Chandler went home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2021, at Lansing regional Hospital. Martin was born on August 28, 1967, in Lansing, Michigan, to loving parents Frank and Catherine Chandler, both of Washington DC.

Martin, at an early age, accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized by Reverend Whittington at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. You could always catch Martin in the balcony on Sunday mornings. Martin attended Lansing Public Schools and worked as a landscaper.

Martin was known for his contagious smile and positive outlook on life; that’s how he earned his name “Party Marty”. He loved to laugh, eat, cook, and spend time with his family and friends. He was always making sure everyone around him had everything they needed, from food to personal needs.

Martin loved his family, especially his nieces. He would go to the end of the earth to do whatever they needed.

Martin was preceded in death by his father Frank Chandler; two uncles, Walter “Tut” Cromer and Jacob “June” Cromer; and aunt, Laverne Cromer.

Martin leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Catherine Chandler; three sisters, Twanna (Kevin) Foreman, JoAnne Chandler, Thelma (Lester) Darby; three brothers, Jeffery (Sharrall) Chandler, Dexter (Terri Lee) Chandler, and Mark (Yvette) Chandler; two aunts, Corrine Garrett, and Shirley Cromer; five nieces; seven nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and other family members. Brothers from special mothers, Thomas Mitchell, and Ronald Morgan. Special friends Evon, Pearl, Sarah, Tammy, and the Jones and Tanner families.
