Mr. Marvin Tate Brown O.B. passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his residence. Age 60 years. He was born January 27, 1953 in Starkville, Mississippi to Luebertha Brown and Jeffrey Timm Jr.
Marvin relocated to Saginaw, Michigan on July 4, 1965. He continued his education and played football at Saginaw High School. Marvin attended college at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and completed his bachelors degree in Social Work at Saginaw Valley State University. Marvin was well known for his work as a security guard for the Saginaw Public School District and Buena Vista Schools. He loved children and took several sons and little brothers under his wing. He was like a father to many young adults. His presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Doris Marie Brown; four daughters, Niashia Love of Canton, Michigan, Casharra Brown and Akila Brown both of Saginaw, Michigan, Rasheda (Gregory) Patterson II of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two godchildren, Demonte and Dravonn Fluellen; two grandchildren, Desmond Hogg and Vashon Brown-Sangster; mother, Luebertha Brown; four sisters, Vivian Brown and Alfreda Palmer both of Saginaw, Michigan, Angela and Elaine Brown both of Farmington Hills, Michigan; three brothers, Larosa Brown and John Freeman Brown both of Saginaw, Michigan, Jeffrey Lee Timms III of Chicago, Illinois; eight nieces; eighteen nephews; special aunts, Sally Morlett, Edna Jones, Lillie Donald and Betty Jones all of Flint, Michigan, Cecilia Watkins and Susan Tate of St. Louis, Missouri, Emma Conley of Starkville, Mississippi; several uncles including special uncles, Willie Noah Carter and Felix Carter both of Flint, Michigan, Bennie C. Brown, Arthur Dave Tate and Jim Timm all of Starksville, Mississippi; mother-in-law, Odessa Surles; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Brown and Antinella Surles; two brothers-in-law, Lewis Surles Jr. and Tim Surles, who was more like a brother to him; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Jerome T. Ryan, Cedric Walker, Al Pipkins and Linda Brown, who was more like a sister to him.
Marvin was preceded in death by his twin brother, Melvin T. Brown, father, Jeffrey Timms Jr., stepfather, John E. Brown Jr., father-in-law, Louis Surles Sr.
