Marvin Reed

February 5, 1965 — December 31, 2023

Mr. Marvin (Smooov) James Reed was born February 5, 1965, in Gary, Indiana, to Joann Garth and James Reed. He departed this world on December 28, 2023, at 58.

Marvin, the middle child of three children, loved his entire family immensely. He lived all over the country including Georgia, Minnesota, Ohio, and California, but most of his life was spent in Saginaw, Michigan.

Marvin attended Saginaw High School, and Job Corps where he was awarded a certificate in Culinary Arts. He was employed at Garber Buick, Burt Watson, and many other car dealerships. He was always one of the top-selling car salesmen! He was honored many times throughout the city of Saginaw with billboards featuring his trademark smile. In addition to being a car salesman, Marvin worked many other jobs because one thing for certain he was never broke! Marvin never depended on the handouts of others and made sure to instill the same values and principles in his children.

His work ethic was impeccable! When Marvin wasn’t working he enjoyed cooking, grilling, fishing, boating, being around family, and watching his favorite shows and movies. He also loved to travel and see different parts of the country. His dreams were to one day open up a small restaurant, buy some acres, and put cows, chickens, and pigs on it.

Marvin was a simple man, he loved God, and his family, adored his grandchildren, and treasured his children. He was funny, charismatic, clean-cut, and always strived for greatness. Marvin had his struggles, but he never gave up until his dying day. He had a loving heart and demonstrated this by helping some homeless individuals with shelter, food, and clothing a few weeks before he passed.

Marvin leaves behind two daughters and one son, Shanna Losoya (Isaias) Asia Hall (Jimmie), and Torry Jackson; ten grandchildren, Adrian, Ethan, Emmalyn, Josaias, Londyn, Jayda, ElyJah, Logan, Landon, and Levi; he will be remembered as a protective and loving brother, to Sharon Reed, and a supportive uncle, and great-uncle, to Tiarra, Jordan, Alexis (Brent), Gabriel, Brixley, baby Brent, Amber, Autumn, Adrian, Caiden and Hannah.

Marvin was preceded in death by his precious mother, Joann Garth, his brother, Demetrius “Meechie” Reed, and a special uncle, Curtis.
