Mary Ann Venable (Lansing)

December 21, 1963 — January 22, 2024

Mary Ann Venable was born December 21, 1963, in Lansing, Michigan to parents, Joseph and Flavia Filko.

Mary Ann was a lifelong resident of Lansing, Michigan, where she attended Everett Elementary, Gardner Middle School and Everett High School. She married the love of her life and from that union her daughter Cassie was born.

Mary Ann was employed as a receptionist at the Shaheen car dealership until becoming a devoted stay-at-home Mother to her daughter. She then also provided care for her nieces, Autumn and Merah, which created a special bond. Being a servant unto others gave her purpose and was her calling and gift.

Mary Ann loved all music, especially rock and roll, and faithfully attended the Common Ground music festival to hear various bands play. She loved fishing and camping and was regarded as the best classroom Mom who brought all the best holiday treats. Holiday baking alongside her sisters was one of her passions as well. Mary Ann also took time pampering herself religiously painting her nails and toes and the colors always matched, it was known as her thing! Last but not least, Mary Ann was an avid football fan, especially for her beloved University of Michigan Wolverines—GO BLUE!

Mary Ann leaves to cherish her memory father, Joseph Filko, Sr.; daughter, Cassandra Marie Venable; granddaughter, Sienna Rose Eirosius; sister, Cecelia Filko; brother, Joseph (Patty) Filko, Jr.; nieces: Autumn (Pree) Scates, Ashley (Adam) Matz, and Merah (Andrew) Herbert; nephews: Justin Venable, Joel (Nicole) Venable, Ryan Venable and Jacob Venable and great-niece and nephew whom she shared a special closeness to, Chloe and Carter Scates; sisters-in-law, Trinda (Terry) Evans, Julie Venable and Nikki McFalda; brother-in-law, Ross Venable; and special longtime friend Gary Sylvester. In addition, she had several cousins residing in Florida and Pennsylvania whom she loved dearly as well as her bonus son-in-love Brian Eirosius.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by husband, Jeffrey Venable, Mother, Flavia Filko; sister Cindie Filko; brother-in-law Jim Venable.
