Mary Anna Jackson (Lansing)

Mrs. Mary Anna Jackson was welcome into her heavenly home on Monday, December 2, 2019 in Lansing, Michigan. Age 71 years. She was born in Humboldt, Tennessee on December 25, 1947; the daughter of Sam Coats and Annie Mae Sharp.

Mary move to Lansing, Michigan in 1975 and worked at Motor Wheel for many years until the company closed. She took time off from her job to care for her granddaughter, Shatrece whom she loved dearly until her death. Getting back into the work field she began working with special needs children for the Lansing School District at Beekman Center. This gave her great joy teaching and caring for special needs students. She also worked for Sparrow Hospital for 9 years.

Mary dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and a few years after moving to Lansing Michigan, she joined Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor Larry M. Trice, Sr. She was a faithful member serving on the Usher Board, Nurses Guild and Young Women Christian Council and continued to serve in the ministry under Pastor Emeritus Angelene Trice. Mary continued her service to the church when Pastor Larry M. Trice, Jr. became Senior Pastor and the church changed their name to Tabernacle of David Church.

Mary was a true leading lady of virtue who loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She loved shopping and could find any deals. She was a classy dresser with a flare who loved exquisite dresses and J Renee shoes. Mary had an infectious laugh and huge beautiful smile that raised her cheek bones a little more.

Mary was truly loved and her memory will forever live in the hearts of her children, Raymond (Jannette) Coats, Felix (Tiyah) Morris, Latosca Morris, Ellihue Jackson Jr.; best friend and sister, Alice Owens; grandchildren, Brianna Winters, Joshua, Corinthia “CoCo”, Elizabeth, Miranda, Rachael, Marcus, and Aaron Coats, Jazmone, Felix WC, Jeda, and Amani Morris, Jakala, Elijah, Elonzo and LaTrece Jackson; nieces Debra and Kay Patterson; goddaughter Jacqueline (Henry) Nash, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Annie Coats; Grandma, Rosie Sharp; son, Laymond Coats; Brother, James “Jipp” Patterson and granddaughter, Shatrece Morris.
