Mary Bates

Ms. Mary (Whitley) Bates who was known as Baby Sis. was called home by her Heavenly Father Thursday, December 10, 2009. Mary was born in Mason, TN on September 30, 1947 to the late Eliza and Willie Lee Whitley Sr.
Their baby girl accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She was married to Mr. Parker C. Bates and they moved to Saginaw, MI and became members of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church. Mary was employed at Community Hospital now Health Source for many years. Her hobby was a special game called Cut Throat, she was a big jokester, and loved being around family and friends. She was also a very fashionable lady who liked to dress, cook and clean.
She leaves to cherish her memories seven brothers and two sisters, C.J. (Sadie) Whitley of Ripley, TN, Willie Lee (Carrie) Whitley, Charlie James Whitley, John Frank Whitley, Henry Louis (Sandra) Whitley, Lester Wayne (Dorothy) Whitley, Bobby Ray (Marilyn) Whitley, Sponicia (Robert) Bates and Gloria Jean Shaw all of Saginaw, MI; one uncle, Translee (Mary) Maclin of Albany, GA; God sister, Linda Comer; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Baby Sis. Was predeceased by her parents, Willie (Eliza) Whitley; brother, Emmett Whitley and sister, Laudell Taylor.
