Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin transitioned to glory on Wednesday November 11, 2020.
Mary D. Beck was born in Noxubee County, Mississippi on June 3, 1926 to Henderson and Ina Beck. Mary was united in holy matrimony to her loving husband, Robert L. Jackson, of 59 years. The couple moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1953. Mary committed her life to Christ at an early age, and upon moving to Saginaw she became a faithful member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, where she especially loved attending Sunday School. Mary was a dedicated employee at the Ramada Inn until her retirement in 1980, at the age of 54.
Some of Mary’s favorite pastimes were gardening, going for long walks, shopping, sewing by hand, dancing, singing cooking, exercising, reading her bible and spending quality time with her family. Most of all her greatest joy was praying fervently for the health and well being of her loved ones, including generations to come.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Jackson; grandson, Damon P. McNair, Jr., four sisters, Willie Alice, Susie B., R. B. and Hattie B.; three brothers, Edward, Albert, and Henderson Jr.; son-in-law, Willie B Hairston.
Celebrating her life and legacy are two sons, Yusuf (Juan) Al-Lateef and Otis W. Jackson; three daughters, Aretha Hairston, Gloria M. Taylor and Mary L. (Leslie) Addison, all of Saginaw, Michigan; twelve grandchildren, Deloris (Derek) Jackson-Taylor, Richard (Cheryl) Walker, Otis II (Archia) Jackson, Rosa McNair, Anthony Walker, Robin Price, Veliria Jackson, Ameer Al-Lateef, Bilal Al-Lateef, Samir Al-Lateef, Sade Jackson, Krystal Buckler; thirty-two great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Pecolar Pendleton; special goddaughters, Helena (Bill) Badger, Bertha (Don) Fabin, Belinda (Brian) Johnson; brothers-in-law, Charlie L.
