Mary Grace Wade (Lansing)

Mrs. Mary Grace Wade passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at her residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 83 years. She was born January 27, 1938, in Eupora, Mississippi to her parents, Aaron Metrue and Annie Mae Thompson.

Mary Grace was a resident of Lansing, Michigan where she attended Mt. Hope Church. Mary Grace attended school in Eupora, Mississippi completing the 10th grade. She worked as a sharecropper and went on to go into the fields of welding. Mary Grace worked for the county hospital, Michigan State University Kellogg Center, and Capitol Park Motor Hotel, doing many other trades. Mary Grace was a servant to God and enjoyed helping people. She was always there for her family, friends, and community. Mary Grace loved people especially babies and the elderly. Her door was always open to children and she took care of many children staring in Galveston, Texas where she moved to at the age of 19 years and called it her home. Mary Grace met her husband William Tyler Wade there. They started their family and eventually moved to Lansing, Michigan. Mary Grace loved music, movies of all kinds, people of all nations and was blessed to have met people of all walks of life, both famous and not. Most of all, Mary Grace enjoyed offering the Alter call to all.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, two daughters, Veronica Lynn Wade and Katrina Smith; two sons, Larry James Wade and Mark Wade; three stepchildren, William Tyler Wade, Jr., Derick Smith and Barry Williams; many grandchildren including Karena L. Wade whom she adopted; five siblings, Florence Willie Mae Simpson, Lera Lee Holman, Frances Shankle, Jimmie St. Valentine, and Betty Sue Thompson; sister-in-law, Lois Faye (Bill) Beavers; two brothers-in-law, Fred Cunningham and Roy Cunningham; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Tyler Wade; daughters, Angela Catrice Smith and Janice Smith; sons, Lowell Wade, Jesse Wade, Maurice Williams, and Mark Williams; parents, Aaron & Annie Thompson; grandparents, Thaddeus & Florence Crawford; five sisters, Joyce Thompson, Lilly Mae Hollaway, Mary Elizabeth Jones, JoAnn Mickens, and Ronna Kaye Douglas; two brothers, James Thompson and infant brother; and father of 2 daughters, Robert Lee Smith.
