Ms. Mary Jane Baker-Bonds passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Tri Star centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Age 48 years. She was born March 13, 1974 in Saginaw, Michigan, to Willie James Baker and Nadine Bonds.


Mary Jane was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School and was employed as a CNA at Ross Medical Center. She gained work experience from several other positions, doing the things she loved. Mary enjoyed life and loved to sing and dance. She will be remembered for being very blunt and for speaking her mind. Even though she was quite outspoken, she was a “Daddy’s Girl” at heart. Mary Jane will be missed by all who knew and loved her.


She leaves to cherish loving memories two daughters, Christina Baker and Precious Baker; grandchildren, Mi’Keriah, Ra’Naijah, Ra’nyiah, Lyric, Treasure, Erica, Darius, and Madison-Rose; her mother, Nadine Bonds; sister, Margaret Beard; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Melvin (Johnnie Mae) Bonds, Floyd (Phyllis) Bonds, David Bonds, Lawrence (Torrey) Bonds, and Willie Bonds; many nieces including Lauryn Bonds, Laura Sheppard, Ashley Oglesby, Di’Angel, Faith, Brooksey Baker, Ty'Bree Baker, Whitney Wheeler; many nephews including Lamario Bonds, Wenzel Franklin, Clinton (Barry) Bonds, Floyd Bonds Jr., Adriane Bonds, Quentori Bonds, Landen Bonds, LaBranden Bonds, Lawrence Bonds Jr., Carl Bonds, David Sheppard, and Jeremy Bonds; aunts, Claudia Thompson, Flora Burnett, Queen Laster, Lizzie Carruth, Martha Weatherspoon, Esther Baker, Marilyn Hines, Judy Marshall, and Phyllis “Cookie” Marshall; uncle, Roosevelt (Ruby) Menzies, Robert Baker, Anthony Baker; cousins, Jetta Burnett, Sherwood (Dana) Burnett, OC Cutts, Andrea Johnson, Tonya Burnett, Jack Laster, Ervin Laster, Augusta Weatherspoon, Dereon (Latosha) Weatherspoon, Kenya Menzies, Timothy Menzies, Patricia Cotton, and Tony Cotton, of Saginaw, Michigan, Charles Smith Jr., Angela Smith, Beverley Smith, and Perry Smith, of Hayti Missouri; many other special relatives and friends including aunt, Lizzie Carruth, cousin, Augusta Weatherspoon, and aunt/godmother, Martha Weatherspoon.


Mary Jane was preceded in death by her dad, Willie James Baker, maternal and paternal grandparents; sister, Jana Williams, many cousins including Paul Menzies, and special cousin, Maurice “Cookie Monster” Burnett; many aunts and uncles including Annie Mae Smith, LC Menzies, Robert Menzies, Ernest Menzies, and Milton Marshall; sisters-in-law,  Bobbie Bonds and Natasha Frazier.


The family would like to express special thanks to Sarah Cannon at the Cancer Institute, all family and friends who contributed toward the celebration of Mary Jane’s life, and Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
