Mary Louise Best passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Prestige Pines Senior Living Center in DeWitt, Michigan. Age 76 years. She was born August 23, 1940 to Edward Jackson and Lillie Gray Robinson in Norfolk, Virginia.
Mary was a born again Christian and was affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventist church in New York City and Lansing, Michigan. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the many houseplants she loved and nurtured over the years with her green thumb, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
While living in New York City, Mary was lovingly referred to as Mare Weez. In 1971, she left New York City and moved to East Lansing, Michigan with her then husband (Clyde C. Best, Jr.), three daughters, three sons, and one child on the way.
Mary was employed with General Motors for many years before retirement. She enjoyed cooking large amounts of food (from scratch) and hosting all of her children and grandchildren at her home on Sunday afternoons. Mary made the best homemade bread, rolls and biscuits. After retirement she filled her free time playing Bridge with her many friends at Letts Community Center, where she was well known. You knew you were in a good place with Mary when she would greet you with a Hello Dahlin or Bless Your Heart. Her smile came naturally with little to no effort and her sense of humor was contagious.
Mary was so very proud of her Grandchildren and absolutely loved being a Grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her memory her seven children, Tyrone (Pat), Gregory, Gina, Michelle (Gerald), Mae of Florida, Ricky (Sadie) of Georgia and Heather; grandchildren, Bethany, Elaina, Tyrell, Myleeka, Christopher, Gregory, Lena, Samuel, Michael, Shameka, Benjamin, Alicia, Jevon, Ashley, Whitney, Caleb, Ricky, Brandon and Joshua; six sisters, Ethel Edmondson, Dora Jackson, Pamela Jackson, Ann Jackson, Audrey Jackson and Alice Webb; brother, David Jackson, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Christine Johnson, Road Runner, and Naomi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Martell; siblings, Sara Hyman, Alfred Jackson, William Jackson, Edward Jackson, Jr., Mamn Hyman; and her ex-husband, Clyde C. Best, Jr.
The family would like to express special thanks to Prestige Pines Senior Living Center and Hospice of Lansing.
