Ms. Mary Joice Liddell went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 17, 2020 after battling cancer for seventeen years. Her family surrounded her bedside at Covenant Healthcare as she made her transition. She was born June 5, 1953 in Louisville, Mississippi to Hoover Liddell and Gusterine Coleman.
Mary accepted Christ at an early age while attending Mercy Temple Church in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Johnie F. Edwards. Mary was a member of Charlotte Ray Temple #549. Her hobbies included sewing, fishing and playing bingo. She retired from Value City Department Store in 2004.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Hoover Liddell and Gusterine Coleman; stepparents, Clarence and Dolly Mae Liddell; sister, Janet Liddell; three aunts, Ruby Boston, Merneva Reed, Laura Moten; three uncles, Walter Glenn, Frank and Sylvester Coleman.
She leaves precious memories with four daughters, Elena Macon, Tarnishia Macon (Jackie Knuckles), both of Saginaw, Michigan, Sharon Macon, Marietta, Georgia, Theresa Macon (Micah Hamilton), Tuscan, Arkansas; one son, Robert Liddell III (Alexis Essex), Nashville, Tennessee; sixteen grandchildren, Quincy, Quintel, Maria, Mary Macon, Denizel Davis, DeAndre Macon, Sparkle Perkins, Javon Lyons, Aaliyah Stanford, Delvon Stanford, Leo Stanford, Veronica Perkins, D’Vontayvius Macon, Willie Perkins, Robert IV and Alex Liddell; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorine Foust; four brothers, Cedell, Timothy, Eugene, Kenneth Liddell; aunts, Shirley (Clarence) Barlow, Iris (Johnnie) Hoskins, Margie and Mary Alice Liddell; uncles, Freddie and Coy (Nola) Coleman; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Anna Holmes, Don Jelks, Debra Trice and very special friend, Marvin Rush.
