Ms. Mary Lois Moore passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Age 71 years. She was born on January 29, 1950, in Los Angeles, California to Ledora Bell and John Henry Moore.
Ms. Moore was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She was educated in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She later joined Job Corps in Portland, Oregon. After returning to Saginaw, Ms. Moore was employed as a school lunch aide at Charles C. Coulter Elementary School in Saginaw. Ms. Moore’s hobbies included cooking, playing Bingo and cards with friends, singing, and reading and writing poetry. Ms. Moore was a community activist and she loved helping the less fortunate, but most of all she loved, cared and was loyal to her family. She was a steadfast protector and teacher of her children. She will be missed by many friends and loved ones.
She leaves to treasure loving memories one son and daughter-in-law, Faheem (Fareeda) Nichols, Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren, Tevariol Moore, Teariol (Linda) Moore, Teriano (Tonya) Clayton, Ezekiel (Meagan) Mojica, Zainah (Bilal) Shaheer, Humza, Farhanah, Kameelah and Maryam Nichols, Malik and Jalil Moore, Derrius (Miranda) Campbell; 19 geat-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Hargrove, Los Angeles, California, Carolyn Jenkins, Vicksburg, Mississippi, Erma Lee Smith, Vicksburg, Mississippi, Sandra Faye Williams, Saginaw, Michigan; 13 nieces; 16 nephews; brother-in-law, Jake Williams, Flint, Michigan; 300 goddaughters; 250 godsons; many other relatives and friends including her best friend, Nancy Williams; special friends, Wilma Chisolm, Mary Coleman, Vanessa Cooper, Betty Colbert, Betty Jackson, and Jean Cain Schartz.
Ms. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Ledora Bell and John Henry Moore, daughters Sharon and Kwyna Moore, sister, Gloriasteen Thomas Smith, brothers, Annise, Otis, Robert, Charles and Eugene Smith, uncle, Alonzo Webber, aunts, Mary Johnson, Laura May; brothers-in-law, L.C. Jenkins, Lebraska Hargrove, and Brenda Reed, her “homegirl.”
