Mary Loyd-Deal

Mary was a product of the Saginaw Public School district. She furthered her education by attending classes at Delta College. Mary married Earnest J. Deal E.J. in 1988. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was an Eastern Star and followed in her big sister Virgie Edwards footsteps to become Queen of St. Matthews Lodge. Mary was widely known as a very good cook and worked in the food service industry for many years. Mary was a former avid bowler who received countless awards and recognition. She was a faithful member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Davis Jr. Mary was the life of the party and wasnt afraid to speak her mind. Behind her tough exterior, she had a heart of gold. Her presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Cherina (Oliver Jr.) Johnson; two sons, Kijoi (Detra) Loyd and her #1 fan, Jamarr Loyd; her beloved dog, Harpo; her grandchildren, Nicolas and Nehemia Jones; godchildren, Shawn, Alexandria and Merlesha; one sister, Johnetta (Robert) Sanders of Saginaw, Michigan; four brothers, Charles Warren and C.W. (Christina) Thames, both of Jackson, Mississippi, Harvey Perkins and Robert Jay Richardson, both of Saginaw, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Florine Gatewood of Milpitas, California; many other relatives and friends including her long-time best friend, Alice Robinson.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Deal E.J. parents, Kirk and Wilna Loyd; three brothers, Ezell and William Ray Richardson, Selman Gatewood; one sister, Virgie Mae Edwards. her step-father who raised her, Richard Richardson.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Ron and Lady Georgette Frierson and New Covenant Christian Center church family, Pastor Dorothy Burns and the Lighthouse Memorial Ministries church family, Pastor Paul E.
