Mary "May" Martin Curtis

Ms. Mary “May” Martin Curtis began her journey of this life on August 19, 1935 in her birthplace Pickens, Arkansas. She was the 2nd child born to the late William M. Martin, and Leola Martin. May departed this life on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the age of 82 years. She was the proud mother of four beautiful children.

May was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She attended school in Pickens, Arkansas and later, Delta College in Saginaw, Michigan. She held various jobs at several hotels and laundromats. In her leisure, she enjoyed playing bingo and cards. May enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers, basketball, and games shows. May had a kindred spirit and treated everyone with respect. She was never a judgmental person, but was unique, and lived a simple life. May was a very protective mother who loved her family dearly. She loved telling stories about her children as they were growing up.

Ms. Mary “May” Martin Curtis leaves to cherish her precious memories: One loving daughter who was by her side during her final days, Doris Martin, Saginaw, Michigan; three loving sons, Michael (Felicia) Martin of Lancaster Texas, David (Velda) Bland, Macon, Georgia and Gary Martin, Saginaw Michigan, who was her primary caregiver for years until her last days; two brothers, Jeremiah (Kathy) Martin, Earl Martin, both of Saginaw Michigan; ten grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends.

May was preceded in death by her parents, Williams and Leola Martin; two sisters, Dessie Bradley and Zemira Goodman; six brothers, William Martin Jr., S.W. Martin, Chester Martin, Freddie Martin, Johnny Lee Martin, J.W. Martin; and one brother-in-law, Wardell Goodman.
