Mary "Sis" Anna Watson (Lansing)

February 7, 1922 — August 28, 2019

Ms. Mary Anna "Sis" Watson passed away peacefully, from this life, Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Regency Lansing West in Lansing, Michigan. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Age 97 years. She was born February 7, 1919 the fifth child of 10 children to Joe and Roxanna Watson in Camden, Alabama.

Mary affectionately known as “Sis” attended The Lutheran School and Camden Academy in Camden, Alabama. She then moved to Lansing, Michigan in the late 1950’s. Mary did a variety of domestic work in Lansing. She attended Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Lester D. Stone. Mary served on the mission board and faithfully attended Bible study. Sis was loving, caring, and nurturing. She loved cooking every day and especially Sunday Dinner which consisted of fried chicken, yellow cake with chocolate frosting and apple crisp. Mary kept everyone in line even the neighborhood kids. She also made sure all the kids attend Vacation Bible School every summer. Sis lived to see several generations and branches of the Watson family tree and will be missed by all.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory 3 sisters Lela Mae Hattaway, Dora Mae Murphy and Texanna Watson who went home to be with the Lord shortly following Mary on Sunday September 8th 2019. Nieces Barbara, Carolyn, Peggy, Linda, Vivian, Juanita and Little Loise. Nephews, Edgar, Bruce, Sam, Albert and Tommie. As well as a host of Great-Nieces, Great-Nephews and Great-Great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Joe & Roxanna Watson; 3 sisters, Alma Lee Watson, Maggie Lee Wiggins and Ceola Jones; 3 brothers, Henry Forest Watson, Johnnie Watson and Arnold Watson; 3 nieces, Bernice Hattaway, Deloise Hattaway and Joyce Hattaway; 4 nephews, Johnnie Watson Jr., Wilfred Watson, Edward Watson and Larry Jones.
