December 18, 1936 — May 4, 2015

On May 4, 2015, Mother Mary Alice Gipson Walker stretched up her arms to the Master and transitioned into Gods hands, registered as a child of the King!
Born December 18, 1936 in Sheffield, Alabama to John Wesley Gipson, Sr. and Katie Lee Butts Gipson. Mary was a resident of Bay City, Michigan and member of Second Baptist Church since 1946. She served in the choir, The Ellerettes, Dorcas Womens Mission, the Beautification Committee and was President of For Get Me Not mission circle until her health failed. She loved her church family, Pastoral family and the Shekinah Glory Praise and Worship Team. Mary lived the life of a Virtuous Woman (Proverbs 31) and her children called her blessed. She was also a Titus II women who spoke words of wisdom and encouragement to younger women. She was a Mother to All of her childrens friends. Her purpose for doing anything was always with others in mind. We salute her and honor her memory for a life well lived.
Employed for 23 years at the Prestolite Corporation, Mary pursued and completed her GED at OIC, Saginaw, MI and received certification as a Nursing Assistant. Additionally, she received training for volunteer Hospice and Domestic Violence counselling, and worked as a volunteer for both agencies. She loved music of all genres and having family and friends in her home. They loved her kitchen best, sitting and laughing at the round table.
God first and the well-being of her children second! She leaves her legacy in her children, Denise Gipson Tyiska, Crystal Jean Byas, Tondalear Walker, all of Bay City; Wanda Faye Harris (Benjamin), Rockford, Ill.; Michael A. Walker, David S. Walker and Tina (William Danny Boy) Daniels, Bay City, MI; and stepchildren Bill, Michael and Vicki Holder. This awesome legacy continues in her grandchildren; Andrew Walker, Terrance Harris, Alicia Harris, Christina Wagner and William Daniel Abram Daniels, her precious great grandchildren Pierre, Monique, Draque, Meridia, Bryce, Mya, Alexa, Little Andrew, Adrieonna, Makalia, Terrence Jr., Martarion; and great grand Christian.
Mary the Big Sister leaves her wonderful siblings, Samuel Joseph Gipson (Grace), Saginaw, MI; Lucy Simpson (George), Fontana. CA; Clara Davis (Charles), Bay City, MI; John Wesley Gipson, Jr., Douglasville, GA; Bleache Baldwin, Pasadena, CA, and Greere Mency (Leon), Duarte, CA. She will be missed by her faithful sister-in-law, Rosie Jones, in-laws from Akron, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family acknowledges; special cousins, Carol Fields, Hilda Rainey, and Fredrick and Joyce Fields; her God children, Marsha Griffin, James Keys Jr. and Kelly Hawkins, her special adopted children, Michelle Abner, and Margaret and Russell Davis. The family also gives honor to and embraces her longtime golden girlfriends", Delores Smith, Hattie Sisson, Khira Angel Burney, Cora Triplett, Dorothy Smith, Bessie King and Alma Shackelford.
Mrs. Walker was predeceased by her husband, Dock C. Walker, daughter Alicia Ann Walker, parents, John Wesley and Katie Gipson, grandparents, Tom and Mattie Fields Gipson, Rose McIntrye, brother William Adams, sister Katie B. West, granddaughter, Lakeshia Denise Walker, great granddaughter Shirelle Houston, special uncle and aunt, George and Clara Gipson, son-in-law, Rodney D. Tyiska, cousin Dr. Charles Fields and special soul mate Rufus Holder.
