Mason Robinson, Sr. (Lansing)

Mr. Mason “ML” Robinson, age 91years old, departed this life on Friday, June 28, 2024, at McLaren Greater Lansing in Lansing, Michigan surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Buckhead, Georgia on Wednesday, May 24, 1933, the son of John Broughton and Nancy Battle. 

 Mason served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. After serving in the Army, he completed his schooling and was employed with General Motors Corporation for 42 years as a Skilled Trades Pipefitter. Mason resided in Lansing, Michigan and accepted Christ in his early years and later became a faithful member of Immanuel’s Temple Systems of Church under the leadership of Prophet Phillip Owens and Elect Lady Patricia Owens., Mason was a dedicated and faithful deacon for over 35 years. 

 Mason was known by his family and friends as a fun-loving person with an amazing love for people and an infectious laughter. Mason loved talking to people and making new friends wherever he went. 

 He married Johnnie Mae Massey in Detroit, Michigan. They were blessed in that union with two sons, Ricky and Gary Robinson. Later in life, he married Earlene Spight on March 26, 1987. 

 He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 37 years, Earlene Robinson of Lansing, Michigan; four children, Leon (Patricia) Robinson of Alabama, Ricky (Julie) Robinson and Gary (Jeanette) Robinson, both of Lansing, Michigan, and Melissa Robinson of Texas; three step-children, Otis (Glenda) Alford of Flint, Michigan, Jacki Spight of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, and Antony Spight of Phoenix, Arizona; many grandchildren including special granddaughter, Qua’Nesha Whitaker; great-grandchildren; special uncle, Simon Broughton of Chicago, Illinois; cousin “Hoyt” of Mt. Clemens, Michigan along with other relatives, including Bette Jo Childs; and friends, including special friends, Deacon Willie Sams, Deacon Eric Cyrus, Deacon Thessley Nicholson, Deacon Everton Hawkins, Brother Joe Salter, and Lee Norwood.

 He was preceded in death by his father, John Broughton and mother, Nancy Battle.
