Matthew Duane Jones

Our beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the age of 46 years. He was born June 21, 1972 to Dorothy Jones and Matthew Murray in Saginaw, Michigan.

Matthew, lovingly called “Bug” and “Matt” by family and close friends, was a student of Buena Vista Public Schools. He attended Buena Vista High School and graduated with the “Class of 1990.” He loved cutting hair, doing audio work on cars, riding his motorcycle and old school cars.

Matt enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His friendships were long lasting and his friends were more like brothers. Proverbs 18:24 says, “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Matt was this kind of friend. His quietness, laid back personality and smile will truly be missed.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Vivian Long, Bessie Bland; grandfather, Authur Murray; aunts, Mary and Willie Scott, Judy Murray, Patricia Thomas; uncles, Lem Jones, Ronald Charston; and friend, Travell Staves.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory mother, Dorothy Jones; father, Matthew Murray; daughters, Melayah Daniel, Chy’Onna Bush; sister, Sushma Jones; brother, Jerrell Jones; nieces, Diamond Bell, North Carolina, Sherell Jones, Texas; nephews, Sherman Bell, Vontae Baskin, Saginaw, Michigan, Tavario Lewis, Grand Rapids, Michigan; two great-nieces; four great-nephews; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Tameka Greene, Vernon Calhoun, Damon Dennis, Jay Moultrie, Christopher Staves, , Lacy Rogers, Fred Rogers, Burt Brown, Thomas Steen, Reggie Frazier, Fred Hope, Roy Harris, Tony Brown, and special cousins, Dion Culberson, Lee Lee Murray and Derrick Martin.
