Mr. Matthew Laury Matt peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, June 5, 2015 at MagnumCare of Saginaw at the age of 65 years. He was born February 8, 1950 in Itta Bena, Mississippi to Nathan Lee and Jimmie (Tolden) Laury.
Matthew was a 1970 graduate of Saginaw High School. He served in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge. Matt was employed for many years at Saginaw Steering Gear now known as Nexteer Automotive. He was also a member of UAW Local 699. Matthew was a member of Truevine Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul E. Broaddus. In June 2008, he joined Mary McCray in holy matrimony. She survives him. Matthew was a sharp dresser who loved spending time with his close friends playing dominoes and cards. He enjoyed fishing, playing softball and family gatherings. Matthew was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. Gone but never forgotten, his presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to celebrate his legacy his wife, Mary Laury; one daughter, Tiarra Laury of Saginaw, Michigan; two sons, Teleo (Natacha) Laury Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Deaundre Laury of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three stepchildren, Sushma Jones and Tenesha (Brandle) Price both of Saginaw, Michigan, Devona McCray of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Teleo Laury Jr., Taylor Owens-Laury, Shaniya Laury, Demichael Davis, Davarion Davis, Sherman Bell Jr., Diamond Bell, Charmaine McCray, Seirra McCray, Torion Price and Brandle Price Jr.; three sisters, Addie Laury, Dorothy Laury and Jacqueline (Joseph) Jacocks; four brothers, Charles, Wardell, Kenneth and Nathan Laury; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law, Thelma (James) Prescott; five brothers-in-law, Jimmy Skipworth, Waydell, Major, Anthony and Stephenson Brown; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Kossie McCaskey, Jerry Williams, Darrell McDaniel and Curtis Williams.
Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Jimmie Laury, two sisters, Earnestine and Grace Laury, four brothers, George, Walter, Nathan and James Lowery, one uncle, Charlie Tolden, two nieces, Tanika and Kizzy Laury, one brother-in-law, Ovoy Brown, Jr., and one sister-in-law, Constance LaFaye Brown.
