Mattie B Orr

On Friday, June 20, 2014 Mattie B. Orr answered the Lords call and entered the kingdom of Heaven at the age of 90 years. She was born April 24, 1924 in Graysonia, Arkansas to William and Tempie Tate.
Mattie spent most of her childhood in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. At the age of 18 years old she relocated to Saginaw, Michigan. Mattie was a faithful member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years, currently under the leadership of Pastor Vincent McMillon. She was a woman of class who was well known for her beautiful hats and stylish flair. Mattie enjoyed watching western movies. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them often telling stories about her lifes journey. The wisdom she shared and instilled in her family was priceless. She always had a way of seeing the positive in every negative situation. Mattie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend whose wonderful presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory three daughters, Carol (Artis) Golston, Elvia Mills and Joyce (Eddie Sr.) Jones; three sons, William (Alma) Duke, Randall (Janie) Rivers and Johnny (Phyllis) Sharper; a very special daughter-in-law, Alesia Archibald-Richardson; eighteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and special friends.
Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Orr, one son, Keith Richardson, parents, William and Tempie Tate and one son-in-law, Frank Mills Sr.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks and gratitude to her caregiver, Phyllis Sharper, Pastor Vincent McMillon and the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church family, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel and to everyone who offered kind words, prayers and condolences.
