Mr. Maurice Anthony Newson Sr. Tony passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at University of Michigan Health System after a lengthy illness. Age 44 years. He was born October 20, 1967 in Detroit, Michigan to Diane Newson and Ronald Landers.
Maurice was a resident of Bay City, Michigan and graduated in 1986 from Handy High School. He attended Saginaw Valley State University. Maurice enlisted into the United States Army. After his tour of duty, he was employed with the State of Michigan until his liver transplant in 2000. Maurice was a supportive father and he encouraged his children to do whatever they put their minds to do. He was a kind, generous person who had warm spirit. Maurice loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed martial arts, softball and football. Maurice was a sharp dresser and often had a smile on his face. His presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his companion, Tressa Simpson; four daughters, Matina Newson, Saginaw, Michigan, Mauricia and Marlise Newson, both of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Blanche Singleton, Detroit, Michigan; four sons, Maurice Newson Jr., Virgin Islands, Maurice Newson Jr., Detroit, Michigan, Briston and Nigel Newson, both of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; one grandchild, Serenity Whiting; grandparents, Rose Ellison, Delores Mosley; one sister, Nicola Landers; three nieces, Alize, Xzavier and Ebonie; one aunt, Janice Landers; one uncle, Robert Wood III; many other relatives and friends including the Childs family, who adopted him and guided him through life.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Diane Newson and Ronald Landers; two brothers, James and Ronell Newson.
