May Rae Isom

September 2, 1944 — December 16, 2018

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Godmother went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her residence. Age 74 years.

Mrs. May Rae Isom was born September 2, 1944 to the union of Clendry and Freddie Lee Wilson in Derma, Mississippi. She was the baby of twelve children.

May moved to Saginaw, Michigan in the summer of 1969 with her three-year-old daughter, Chiquita. May joined True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in 1977 and was a faithful member serving in the senior choir, mass choir and mission department until her health started to fail.

May found employment with the Saginaw Public School District for over thirty years where she influenced the lives of many young people and all considered her as their Granny. May enjoyed watching Young and the Restless because she loved her some Victor Newman. She loved talking on the phone with her sister Bobbie Thompson and sister-in-law, Mae Wilson.

May was preceded in death by her parents, Clendry and Freddie Lee (Foster) Wilson; siblings, Annie Hollis, Clendry Wilson, Jr., Della Mae Brownlee, Cubbie Wilson, Ruthie Nell Lawrence, Irma J. Price, Mary L. Gaiter, D.S. Wilson and Archie Wilson.

She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Chiquita (Waydell) Brown; goddaughter, Tiffany Eckles; two granddaughters, Kasharra Patterson, Kiara Brown, whom she affectionately called “Mooch”; one great-grandson, Kameron Jackson, her “Dooda Bug”; sister, Bobbie J. Thompson, Memphis, Tennessee; brother, Sonny Wilson, Derma, Mississippi; a host of extended children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

We had a wonderful mother, one who never really grew old. Her smile was made of sunshine
and her heart was solid gold. Her eyes were as bright as shining stars, and in her cheeks fair roses you see. We had a wonderful mother and that’s the way it will always be. But take heed, because she’s still keeping an eye on all of us. So let’s make sure she will like what she sees.

As an expression of sympathy, please consider a donation in May's name at Paradise Funeral Chapel.
