Mckinley Land, Jr.

Mr. McKinley Land, Jr. passed away peacefully at Covenant Cooper Medical Center on Sunday, August 9, 2020. He was born September 20, 1937 in Tarry, Arkansas to McKinley Sr. and Lucinda (Curry) Land.

McKinley was employed at General Motors Powertrain, retiring in 2004 after more than forty years of service. He was well known as “Mr. Pete” throughout the community for his hobbies of gardening and scrapping. He was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor E.W. Bothuel and later under Pastor Lafayette Simpson. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

McKinley was preceded in death by his wives, Pearline Whaley-Land, Marie Gidron-Land, Mary Pratt-Land; parents, McKinley Sr. and Lucinda Land; son, Terry Land; stepchildren, James and Jerry Gidron; son-in-law, Dallas Jones; brother, Melvin Land.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Barbara Land-Jones, Michael Lane, Carl Lane, Carolyn Land; stepchildren, Doris Gidron-Powell, Johnny Gidron, Janice Gidron, Mark Gidron, Velama Gidron, Traci Gidron, Michael Gidron, Valerie (Chester) Sykes, Carmen Pratt, Alvin (Vera) Pratt, Sherry Pratt, Regina (Eugene) Smith, Tracey (Michael) Johnson, Andrea Pratt, Michael (Devica) Pratt, Tricia Pratt; grandchildren, Keyon Reed, Dionte’ Beavers, Jerome Morris, Barbara Land, Katrina Land, Corey Maddox, Terry Matthews, Keisha Matthews, Chynethia Matthews, Pearl Lane, T’keeyha Lane, Carl Lane Jr., Michael Glenn Jr., Marcellus Glenn, Tarie Dawson, Jaylin Lee; special granddaughter, Marie (Cecil) Brayboy; twenty-four great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Joseph Jr.) Winchester; brothers, Willie (Mildred) Land, James (Christine) Land, Dale Land; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friends, John Burnell and Lucy Matthews.
