Melinda Jean Crook

Ms. Melinda Jean Crook was born as an Army Brat on October 18, 1951 in Columbia, South Carolina. Born to Command Sergeant Major and 1960 Olympic boxing gold medalist, Edward Crook Jr., and beautiful Patricia Louise Burr. Melinda lived in Lansing, Michigan for many years. She accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Union Missionary Baptist Church. She was educated thru the Lansing School District, graduating from Everett High School.
Melinda later moved to Columbus, Georgia and spent a number of years there before relocating back to Lansing, Michigan. Melinda Jean loved taking, sharing, collecting and protecting pictures. Often times, being called paparazzi. She also loved and enjoyed her family sharing many memories, laughing and dancing. Melinda received a nursing certificate from Lansing Community College and loved to help nurse those in need. A loving, caring mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her.
Melinda went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2013. She leaves to forever cherish her memory, three sons; Chad (Jennifer) Crook, Joseph Crook, and George Crook, all of Lansing, Michigan; seventeen grand and step-grandchildren, Rochelle, Chad Jr, LaQuesha, Alyssa, Jamoeah, Tyrese, Daquaria, Damauria, Joesph Jr, Kalaia, Brayden, Tayvin, Gabriel, Yazmin, Kamaria, Zaidin and Maxwell; four sisters, Brenda Crook of Atlanta, Georgia, Sandra Crook-Walker of Lansing, Michigan, Terri Crook of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Alison Mason of Atlanta, Georgia; many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, and special friends Ernestine and Erma McMullen.
