Melva Guerra

January 19, 1954 — December 31, 2017

The Lord called Melva Guerra home on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Melva was the daughter of the late Victor Guerra and Irene (Esparza) Guerra from Saginaw, Michigan.

Melva is survived by her loving children, Sabrina Cantu Guerra Burda, Benito Ignacio Guerra Cantu, Saleem Mansour Zerka, and Nazeer Toufic Zerka, Son-in-law, James Burda, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Anna Gutierrez Cantu. Melva has five grandchildren: Demitri Cantu Johnson, Isabella Rose Burda, Bryce James Burda, Rebecca Victoria Burda, and Penelope Faith Cantu; and Special nephew, Andrez Guerra (Moo); Also Surviving are two brothers Victor Guerra and Antonio Guerra; three sisters, Olga Guerra, Irene Guerra Alvarez, and Mary Guerra Whitson; and her Best Friend, Carlean Gill.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Gloria Munoz, Diana Guerra Machul, and Irma Guerra Lopez; and grandmother, Eulojia Deleon Guerra.

Melva was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas and was actively involved in Arts Vision/ Ministry, and also was a member of the Dallas Nasher Museum. She earned her Bachelors degree in Business from Northwood University.

Melva was a strong business woman who was full of life, laughter, and style. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and wonderful friend. A woman who also enjoyed traveling, spending quality time with her family, organizing family reunions; and her passion was interior decorating. Melva will be deeply missed by all of her Family and Friends.

The funeral schedule will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1816 Routh Street, Dallas, Texas 75201 on Saturday, January 13, 2018. With a viewing and visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. and the funeral service beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Senior Pastor Richie Butler officiating.

The family expresses special thanks to all of our family and friends, and those that donated to Go Fund Me, for your prayers and all expressions of sympathy during this difficult time.

The family of Melva Guerra would like to send a special thanks to the Neuro ICU, Neuro step down and 4th Floor medical staff of Medical City Plano for their exceptional care, and to our St. Paul United Methodist Church Family for their love and support, and to ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home for their professional care and guidance.
