Melvin Carter

Melvin Carter made his heavenly transition into glory on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from Covenant Healthcare Cooper. Age 70 years. He was born November 20, 1941 in Abanda, Alabama to Henry and Katie Belle Carter.
Melvin retired with 30 years of service from General Motors Powertrain in 1992 and was a member of UAW Local 668. He was a faithful member of Z ion Valley Baptist Church and was president of the Usher Board. He was also president of the Soul Survivors Motorcycle Club and a member of the Classic Car Club.
He leaves to cherish his memory seven sons, Melvin (Annette) Graham, Alexander City, Alabama, Allen (Julia) Carter, Alpharetta, Georgia, Kenneth (Elaine) Carter, Woodstock, Georgia, Michael Carter, Syracuse, New York, Shawn Carter (Shortround), Saginaw, Michigan, Tim Prince, Saginaw, Michigan, Stacy Carter, Carterville, Georgia; 22 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, William (Willie Mae) Carter, Saginaw, Michigan; Robert Carter, Georgia; four sisters, Dolly Nolan, Patricia Black, Gladys Turner, Mary Ann Lumpkin, all of Georgia; one brother-in-law, John Daniels, Utica, New York; one sister-in-law, Ruby Carter, Utica, New York; Many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including the childrens mother, Ella Carter and three significant friends, Calvin White, Dorris Jones, Alfred Nolson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
