Melvin Johnson Dell passed away July 6, 2012 following a lengthy illness. Age 62 years. He was born September 15, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan to Reverend Tom Sr. and Velma R. Johnson.
Melvin enjoyed fishing, dancing and playing dominos with friends. He had a beloved cat that he took everywhere with him. Melvin loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Davonda (Tracy) Thomas Baby Girl, Bay City, Michigan; one son, Melvin (Rachel) Johnson Jr. Fruity, Saginaw, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Bernadine (Bobby) Jelks, Olivia (Danny) Dottery, Ina (Henry) Bynum, Cherry (Jerry) Givens, Virgil Jeanette (Sherman) Cotton, Loretta Johnson, Barbara Johnson, Mildred Hicks; four brothers, Elder Samuel (Phyllis) Johnson, Jerry (Bobbie) Johnson, Ameal and Lyndon Johnson; three sisters-in-law, Ola Mae Johnson, Jackylin and Carolyn Grimmet; five brothers-in-law, James, Roy, Donald, Kimble and Willie Davis; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Bobby, Shirley Nickelberry and Linda Gray.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Tom Johnson Sr. and Velma Johnson; one sister, Rosemarie Lewis; four brothers, Wendell, Terry, Rollie and Tom Johnson Jr.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Brians House in Bay City, Michigan.
After the memorial service the family will meet at 506 South Wheeler Street for the repast.
