Michael Chairs (Lansing)

Mr. Michael “Mike” Chairs made his transition home, in his home, as he wished, on Monday, May 17, 2021, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 56 years. He was born October 29, 1964, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to parents, Roosevelt Chairs and Katie Mae Moore. At the age of 5 years old, the family moved to Lansing, Michigan, where he would later attend Sexton High School, graduating in 1984. Michael always had a passion for singing, dancing, and he loved to cook.

He worked for the State of Michigan for many years before setting off to explore other opportunities. Mike was strong minded, stubborn at times, and fearless. He accepted the Lord at an early age and would let everyone know he was good because he had a praying family.

Mike was outgoing and outspoken; selfless. He would open his door to others to help in their time of need, even when he was in need. Mike treated his family and friends with love and respect, even though, he did not get that same treatment in return. He always would entertain company, just an all-around humble person. He was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. He had a heart of gold and loved to buy gifts for his granddaughter Amiyah, who he cherished with all his heart.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Katie Mae Moore; daughter Michelle Hope Chairs; granddaughter, Amiyah Grace Chairs; stepdaughter, Faith Johnson; siblings, Carletta Chairs, Delois (Chris) Campbell, Diane Chairs, Debber Chairs, Carolyn Chairs, Richard Moore, Shanice Moore, Danielle Moore, Vanessa Knox-Jeffreys, and Verness Knox.; nieces and nephews, Diesha, Ta’Shea, Charmain, Sha’Quina, Iman, Zahna, Kyron, Khalid, and Zaaron.; aunts, Mary Odie, Rose Brinkley, Emma March, Demetris Moore, and Dorothy Barnes Butts; uncle, Eugene Moore; bonus friend, Tano Assoumou; special cousins, Thelma (Prucy) Moore and Carlisha Smith; and many more friends and family members, including special friend, Remonia Bowman, bonus friend, Vivian Jackson-Boko, and best friend, ZoeJuana “Zodie” Simpson.

Michael was preceded in death by father, Roosevelt Chairs; grandparents, Jack and Thelma L. Moore; uncles, Jessie, Henry (Baybra), and Clarence Moore; aunts, Thelma, Evelyn, and Bettie Moore and Core Lee Scott; and cousins, Qwa`che, J`Keveous, Artvon, and Maurice.
