Michael Henry Ray

MICHAEL HENRY RAY, born January 14, 1960, became a fallen BV Knight at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Michael was born in Saginaw, MI to Mr. & Mrs. Howard Sr. and Hattie Mae Ray. He enjoyed spending time with family and playing dominos. He learned how to play Dominos from his dad and continued to play until God called him home. He would challenge anyone he knew to a game of Dominos.

Mike had a heart of gold and learned to enjoy life despite many obstacles and circumstances. Graduating from Buena Vista High School in the Class of 1978, Mike played basketball in Arizona where he moved with his high school sweetheart - Roslyn Self. To their marriage was born a beautiful son - Anthony Ray. While in Arizona, he worked for Revlon Cosmetics and Phoenix Public Schools. Eventually, Mike returned to his hometown - Saginaw, MI. Later, Mike met and married Bridgett, although they later separated.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a son – Anthony (Jennifer) Ray (Mesa, AZ) and three grandchildren - Alyssa Gamble, Jacera Ray and Joelle Ray, all of Mesa, Arizona; mother - Hattie Mae Ray of Saginaw, siblings - Sheila Ray Danley, Howard (Shante) Ray, Jr., Sharon D. Ray Jones and Karl Ray (all of Saginaw), nieces - Kujuanna A. Ray and Carrie R. Peterson (Saginaw, MI), Karlishia Ray (Nashville, Tenn.), and Anteya Jones (Clinton Township MI); nephews - Dekwonta Washington (Saginaw, MI) , Karl Ray, Jr and Karree Ray (Nashville, Tenn.), many aunts and uncles in Tennessee, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and other family members. Mike also leaves several close friends: Aaron “Azell” Rogers, Tony Price, Anthony Rogers, Brian Fields and Irvin Foster, and a very special person – Rose Watkins, who stayed by Michael’s side until the end.

Michael was predeceased by his father Howard Ray Sr., grandmother – Carrie Ray, Aunt Adelaide Scroggins, and nephew Myron D. Ray.
