Michael Evans Pointer finished the race and found everlasting life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at 4:30 a.m. Mike was the third son of four children born to the late Lawrence Stanley Pointer and Gertrude Pointer on January 25, 1953, in Lansing, Michigan.
He accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Union Missionary Baptist, later he would attend a different church. He attended Sexton High School, and upon graduation Mike worked for the City of Lansing, Oldsmobile, and the Lansing School District. His most recent job was in the food industry.
Mike was a very private person and kept to himself; one could share their most intimate secrets with him and have the utmost confidence he would not gossip or reveal what was shared with anyone. Mike cared about the well-being of others and without hesitation, if someone needed assistance, he would help or share what he had.
Mike was also a big sports fan, particularly of the Boston Celtics and Green Bay Packers. Additionally, he loved various genres of music, and was a voracious reader of Black History, World Was II, and read as many as 3 newspapers a day.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Gertrude Pointer; brothers, Lawrence (Faye) Pointer, William Pointer and Brian Pointer; nieces, Keisha (John) Proctor and Naomi Pointer; great niece, Samarra Lenece Pointer; nephews, Marcus Pointer and Wesley Pointer; many other relatives including special cousin Kevin “Kevy” Humphrey and friends including special friends, Jimmie Boles, Kenneth Hinton, and Ronald Flowers.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Stanley Pointer; grandparents, Stanley and Ethel Pointer, and William and Addie Harris.
