Mildred Johnson Hicks

September 15, 1949 — December 21, 2022

Evangelist Mildred Hicks, a native of Carrollton, Michigan, passed away on December 21, 2022. She was born September 15, 1949, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Bishop Tom Sr. and Velma Johnson.

Some called her Millie, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. She spent most of her life as a foster care mother to many. She later accepted Christ in her life and shared a ministry with her late husband, Pastor Willie C. Hicks. After his passing, she became a traveling evangelist/missionary. She was one of the most free-spirited people one would ever meet. Her hospitable spirit was second to none. She would give you the shirt off her back. Mildred loved to cook and sew, and her fashionable talent was one-of-a-kind original.

Mildred leaves to cherish sweet memories, (2) children, daughter, Tara Butts, and son, Leo (Lynette) Gibson; grandchildren, Robreean D. Hicks, Anareean S. Covington, Aliyah R. Beatty, Leosha Gibson, Lequan Gibson, Rajae Little, Shomari Little, Shiro Little; sisters, Bernadine (Bobby) Jelks, Olivia Dottery, Loretta Johnson, Barbara Richards, Virgil (Ralph) Ford, Denver Colorado, Cherrylean (Bishop Jerry Sr.) Givens, Flushing, Michigan, Ina Bynum, Bay City, Michigan; (2) brothers, Pastor Samuel (Charlotte) Johnson, Charleston, Missouri, Jerry (Bobbie) Johnson, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; a very special sister-in-law, Ola Mae Johnson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including a special friend, Pastor K.C. Belton, Flint, Michigan.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. Hicks; son, Bercky Lee Johnsons; grandson, GioVanni; parents, Bishop Tom Johnson Sr., and Velma Ruth Johnson; sister, Rosemarie Lewis; seven brothers, Rollie, and Tom Jr., Wendell, Melvin, Ameal, Terry, and Lyndon, and brother-in-law, Danny Dottery.
