Mildred Stoudamire (Lansing)

December 27, 1948 — January 30, 2019

Mildred Ophelia Stoudamire was born December 27, 1948 to parents Walter & Pearlie Stoudamire in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was the oldest of three children, herself, Walter, Jr. and Corlis. Mildred loved her siblings dearly. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age.

Mildred was known by many titles such as “Millie”, “Miss Millie”, and “Dr. Millie”. She received her formal education in the Townsend Park School District of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Upon graduation, she moved to Lansing, Michigan where she met and married Calvin Jeffries and to this union her only child Dana Lynn was born. She later became a faithful member of Antioch Church in Lansing serving on the Greeters and Culinary Ministries until she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Wife, mother, quilter and great cook were also a few of the titles Mildred held and wore with pride, but what many may have not known was her love for healthcare. Millie worked as a laboratory technician and healthcare assistant for many years, but to her family she was “Dr. Millie”. Those far and near called upon her for a diagnosis, advice and treatment plans. This continued well after her retirement years.

But Millie’s most prized title to wear was that of “Grandmother” to Anastasia and Andra. She loved those little girls with every fiber of her being and vowed to do everything in her power to ensure they saw and felt that love daily until her last breath. And they loved her just as much in return.

Mildred was called home to Heaven on January 30, 2019 at the tender age of 70 years old. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Dana Lynn and two grandchildren, Anastasia and Andra all of Lansing, Michigan; brother, Walter (Shurline) Lee Stoudamire, Jr., and sister Corlis Stoudamire all of Lansing, Michigan; one uncle, Donque (Patsy) Ellis of Jackson, Michigan; one aunt, Eddie Dixon of Washington, D.C.; one niece, Jasmine Stoudamire of Lansing, Michigan; two nephews, David Stoudamire of Lansing, Michigan, and Andrew Steven Roberts, IV of Las Vegas, Nevada, and many other cousins, relatives and friends.
