Miles Gibson

March 7, 2001 — November 1, 2013

Gregory and Susie Gibson were filled with great excitement as they anticipated the birth of their new child. Their wait was over on March 7, 2001 when they welcomed their first baby boy. A blessing and miracle to his parents, they lovingly named him Miles-meaning warrior, or soldier in Latin; gentle and peaceful in the English.
Miles was a peaceful baby and never required a lot of attention. His daycare providers often commented to his parents of his sweet contentment. However, as a young boy, Miles was a bustle of activity and proved to be very talented. At the age of 12 and wearing a size 14 shoe, Miles was self-conscious of his larger than life feet. His family and friends assured him that he would one day fill those shoes, and some believed he already had!
Miles attended Resurrection School and was in the 7th grade. His favorite subjects were math and religion. He was also involved in a myriad of sports and extra-curricular activities-football, basketball, track, soccer and karate, just to name a few. A die-hard MSU fan, Miles never missed a game or a beat when it came to teasing the opposing team fans. He firmly believed in the green and white.
Although the days in which Miles was given to fulfill his lifes dream were far too few, he made a significant impact in the world around him. Whether it was his bubbly personality, wonderful smile, or artistic talent, he had just the right amount of determination to accomplish whatever he set his mind to. Miles seemed to master every game, task or sport that he engaged. He loved spending time with his brother and friends playing Xbox, Wii, or any other gaming system you could imagine. Following in the footsteps of many of his family members, he was a very musical child. He played the saxophone and piano fluently and was a member of the bell choir at St Stephens Community Church.
Gods divine intervention gave Miles his final reward. We now know that Gods calendar is not our calendar. According to Miles calendar, 2013 was to be his best year yet. In the early morning of Friday, November 1, 2013 God changed Miles schedule. God wanted him in Heaven this fall and every day thereafter.
Miles was loaned to us for only a short time, but his footprints will remain in our hearts a lifetime. He is now experiencing the indescribable joy of being in the presence of his Lord and Savior. He joins his beloved maternal grandparents; Rev John D. and Bettie Mae Clarke, and his uncle, John D Clarke, Jr. His great smile and energy will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
