Minnie Gilbert

November 19, 1937 — March 24, 2020

Mrs. Minnie Lee Gilbert, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at age 82 years on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital after a short illness. She was born November 19, 1937 in Tchula, Mississippi to Sam Jr. and Lula (Banks) Moore.

Minnie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She was a faithful, loving and caring member of Christ Kingdom Ministries. She was the first member and assisted with the signing and organization of the church. Minnie was active on the Mother’s Board and her past auxiliary positions included President of the Cleaning Committee in addition to serving on the Trustee Board and Kitchen Committee. Her faithfulness and dedication to ministry was inspiring.

Minnie married Lacy C. Gilbert November 6, 1954 in Greenwood, Mississippi. Five children were born to this blessed union and Mother lived to see five generations. She has left us with a legacy of love for family, love for God, and love for others, and we are truly grateful for this gift we had for 82 wonderful years.

Minnie was predeceased by her husband, Lacy C. Gilbert; two children, Lacy Jr. and Rickey Lee Gilbert; parents, Sam Jr. (Florida) Moore, Lula Banks Moore; siblings, Lola Watson, Jessie James, Hubert, Albert, and Henry Lee Moore.

She is survived by three children, Maggie Mae, Melinda and Sandy Tim Gilbert; nineteen grandchildren; over twenty great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to Apostle Edward Jackson and Christ Kingdom Ministries, Select Specialty Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, Covenant Healthcare, Samaritas Senior Living Center Rehab, S.T.A.R.S. Family, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
