On Friday, June 5, 2015 the angels of Heaven descended upon the earth to carry Mrs. Minnie Mae Longuemire home to glory. Age 85 years. She was born November 13, 1929 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas to Clarence and Mary Williams.
Minnie married Mr. John Longuemire Sr. on January 29, 1948. Together they enjoyed 59 years of wedded bliss. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2007. Minnie was a long time member St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church currently under the leadership of Pastor Vincent McMillon. She joined many years ago under the leadership of Pastor William Burkett where she was the first choir director. Minnie also served as a Sunday school teacher and as an advisor of the Young Christian Women. She was known for her lovely, unique high soprano voice. Minnie was a member of the Saginaw Valley Choir under the direction of Reverend Jerry Redeemer. She was also a faithful member of the state choir of the Wolverine State Baptist Convention under the direction of Reverend Charles Nick Jr.
Mrs. Longuemire was a member of Zeta Omega Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. where she held many offices. Minnie served as an advisor of the Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of the Saginaw Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She also was a member of the State of Michigan Board of Parliamentarians.
Minnie received a Bachelor degree from Michigan State University. She was a teacher employed with the Saginaw Board of Education and retired after several years of faithful service. Her interest was helping and teaching others. Minnie enjoyed bowling and sewing. She also enjoyed a little golfing from time to time. Minnie especially loved spending time with her family. Her wonderful presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Vanessa R. Longuemire; five sons, John E. Longuemire Jr., Lamont (Rose) Longuemire, Darren (Ladena) Longuemire, Arthur S. (Wanda) Longuemire and Anthony (Latrese) Longuemire; twenty-two grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends including a special cousin, Martha McBrayer.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, John Longuemire Sr., parents, Clarence and Mary Williams, sons, Kenny and Bruce Longuemire, one daughter, Diane L. Dorsey, one brother, Ulysses Williams, grandchildren, Bruce Longuemire Jr., Johna Longuemire and Demarius Goodman.
